What Is Sabah EduHack 2019

Sabah EduHack 2019 is a 24-hour education hackathon, organised by  Rambutan Code Academy  in collaboration with  Persatuan Mahasiswa Fakulti Komputeran dan Informatik, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The hackathon serves as a platform for youths in Sabah from the age of 16 to 30 to communicate their idea of 21-st century education and is also aimed towards promoting innovation culture among youths in Sabah by allowing them to actively apply their knowledge and creativity in solving real-life problems through hackathon.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A hackathon, also known as an "invention marathon", is a social coding event where participants collaborate in teams, with a time limit, to build a software programme based on a given theme/problem statement. In Sabah EduHack 2019 hackathon, teams will be given 24 hours to code a solution, using any of programming language of their choosing, based on a problem statement related to education (to be revealed to confirmed participants closer to the date of the hackathon). After the 24-hour coding session, teams will be presenting their solution in front of a panel of judges in order to determine the winners.

Anyone of at least 16 years old and not more than 30 years old of age are invited to participate in Sabah EduHack 2019. All participants must be a Malaysian citizen with a valid National Registration Identification Card (NRIC). Additionally, underage participants (below 18 years old) must get a signed written consent from their parents/guardian before being allowed to participate in Sabah EduHack 2019.

There is no participation fee for Sabah EduHack 2019! In other words, it's FREE to join!

Form a group of exactly three members. However, if you don't have a team or have an incomplete team of two, you may still sign up individually/as a team of two and we will try to assign you to a team/assign a member to complete your team. To sign up, fill in this form.

Food and beverage (plus some snacks) will be provided to all hackathon participants, which is included in the application fee. Additionally, all participants will have access to free WiFi Internet at the hackathon venue.

All participants must bring their own laptop for the hackathon. For participants who wish to stay overnight at the hackathon venue (to complete their project), please bring your own sleeping bag and toiletries (if need be).

Sabah EduHack 2019 is an education-focused weekend hackathon event that invites youths from the age of 16 to 30 years old, to build solutions that empower education for the 21st century.

We value the participation of all students and we want all participants and attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Accordingly, all participants and attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout the hackathon event.

To make clear what is expected, all staff, attendees, speakers, exhibitors, organizers, and volunteers at Sabah EduHack 2019 event are required to conform to the following Code of Conduct. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event.
